FAQ's
Answers to some of our most common questions.
Farm Mapping
-
What is the difference between imagery and non-imagery maps?
Aerial maps with imagery include detail from the landscape. This imagery will vary depending on the service you have requested.
Non-Imagery maps are simply your farm's drafted details with the imagery removed. The effective areas remain with a white background and other features such as bush and unproductive scrub/ waste areas are colour coded as a point of reference.
-
What format(s) will my maps be sent in?
PDF and Shapefile.
We can also provide AIX, BMP, EMF, EPS, GIF, JPEG, PNG, SVG, SVGZ, TGA or TIFF on request.
-
Can I have my maps revised?
We work closely with you during our quality assurance and revision stages to ensure your map is accurate and meets your requirements.
By providing us with all necessary details at the beginning of the process this will speed the process up for you and reduce the number of revisions required.
-
What is the next step when I accept my quote?
The next step will depend on what service you have requested.
-
Do you map my farm with a drone?
We have two farm mapping options; 'Draft Only' and 'Drone & Draft'.
Our 'Draft Only Service' includes using publicly available imagery to create maps and does not require UAV (drone) technology or a site visit.
Our 'Drone and Draft Service' includes a site visit from one of our Field Technicians to capture aerial imagery of your farm using UAV (drone) technology.
-
How old are the online maps that you use for your Draft Only Service?
Publicly available imagery can range from two to seven years old depending on your geographical region.
Although publicly available imagery can be a few years old, our experienced team will draft changes on your landscape to ensure you receive an accurate and up to date map.
-
Can you format my map data to use in farm management software?
Certainly, we convert map files for soil nutrient providers and farm machine software regularly.
If you have already mapped your farm with us then get in touch with your farm address, contact details and the type of file (or the programme you need it for). There is no extra charge for this service.
If you need to map your farm please request this option as part of your quote request.
-
Can I edit an online file of my map?
You may be able to edit your map file through your soil nutrient provider account (such as Ballance or Ravensdown).
Otherwise you would need to download drafting software and request the relevant file type from us.

What equipment do the surveyors use?
Survey grade RTK (real time kinematics) GPS units and drones that provide highly precise topographic surveys.
